The Dram Shop was recently crowned the 2026 Best Sports Bar in Brooklyn, and their set up with 7 HD TVs and a big-screen projector makes it an ideal spot for catching the game. They will show every match—all with sound—with an exception for times when Knicks games are on!

The bright & airy Italian-American restaurant serves up wood-fired pizzas, handmade pastas, and happy hour cocktails delicious enough to convince even non-soccer fans to come in and watch the game. Most matches, with the exception of the 11pm and midnight games, will be shown on several TVs behind the bar

For cute & colorful backyard vibes, head to this 4th Ave spot, where all matches during opening hours will be shown with the exception of when the Knicks are playing. The indoor and outdoor TV will show the same match, so you can catch it from anywhere—and there is a full food menu complete with gluten free and vegetarian options. This South Slope neighborhood staple will be showing all matches with sound, and even opening early for some! You’ll have a great view from anywhere in the space with a projector screen in the back, a tv over the bar, plus two other wall TVs.

🍻 Food & drink specials: Lots of specials—a $7 mug of beer/shot combo, pitchers as low as $20, 2-for-1 PBR and dollar off drafts during happy hour—plus they will be announcing match-specific specials ahead of the games.

Park Slope Ale House

This friendly neighborhood pub features a rotating local beer selection, weekend brunch specials until 3pm, and a great selection of speciality cocktails and mocktails. They will be showing as many matches as they can on their 4 large tv screens and larger projector screen.

Black Horse Pub

This casual, British neighborhood pub is the perfect spot to grab a pint of ale and watch the game. Most games are played live, and the menu features rotating drink specials and a full food menu.

Uncle Barry’s & Drums and Flats

Neighborhood taproom Uncle Barry’s & wings hotspot Drums and Flats are directly next door to eachother on 5th Avenue, and between the two of them, they have six screens, including a backyard projector with sound! They say, “We’ll show just about any/every match people want to see!”

This neighborhood spot draws a crowd both inside and on the sidewalk at game time. They will be showing all matches. Expect generous daily specials, 8 TVs inside and two outside, and plenty of camaraderie among fellow fans.

The Monro Pub

This small British sports pub packs in the fans in for every soccer match, particularly the Liverpool F.C. ones. Co-owner Vinny, hailing from Liverpool, and his wife Nicole opened the bar in 2012. Soccer fans can watch the game on several screens throughout the bar or on the back patio and enjoy traditional beer & British snacks.

Farm.One

Come for the match, stay for the greens! Farm.One is a brewery, taproom, and indoor farm, serving seasonal house-made beverages with ingredients grown in-house. They’ll be screening the World Cup anytime they’re open, with the exception of during private events. Keep up to date on their Instagram.

If I’m going somewhere, my first question is always: Can I bring my dog?

Hi, I’m Emma. I’ve lived in Park Slope for almost 10 years, and I adopted my dog, Ruby, in July 2020 (you can follow along at @rubyinbrooklyn). Since then, I’ve been on the search to find places in the neighborhood that love dogs as much as I do.

Over time, I’ve built up a list of local spots that either allow dogs inside, have a takeout window, and/or offer genuinely great outdoor seating. These are the places that make it easy and enjoyable to bring your dog along for everyday life in Park Slope.

It goes without saying (but is worth mentioning): being a dog-friendly neighborhood only works if we all do our part. Please be mindful of each business’s rules, and only bring your dog if they’re comfortable in busy environments, can stay calmly by your side, and are on leash at all times.

Without further ado, here’s an ever-growing list of some of my favorite dog-friendly places in Park Slope:

1. Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store

Annie’s is one of those stores where you walk in and immediately feel taken care of. The team is so friendly, and the inventory is incredible. You’ll find everything from home goods to gifts to a whole section dedicated to dogs (toys, treats, leashes, collars).

Of course, they always have treats behind the counter, too.

They also host a weekly Thursday happy hour and regular events (including Mah Jongg classes), and they’re genuinely committed to building community in Park Slope. Plus, they’re home to two Mini Art Vending Machines by Park Slope’s very own Anastasia Inciardi!

2. Bagel World Park Slope

339 5th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

Bagel World is a family-owned bagel shop and deli that’s been part of the neighborhood for over 20 years.

They’re making fresh bagels all day long, and the takeout window makes it an easy stop with your dog.

There are a few outdoor tables, but I highly recommend grabbing your bagel and heading across the street to the picnic tables by JJ Byrne Park. And if your dog is a fan of a dog park, the newly renovated Washington Park Dog Run is right around the corner.

4. Gone to the Dogs

If you love to spoil your dog (and have them spoiled), this is the place!

Gone to the Dogs is a woman-owned business with a mission you can actually feel when you walk in: “Dog Goods that Do Good”. They collaborate with women makers from low-income, marginalized, and immigrant communities in NYC and the Global South, ensuring fair and livable wages.

Everything in the store is handmade and thoughtfully sourced from recycled, reclaimed, or renewable materials - and it shows. The pieces are colorful, detailed, and unlike anything you’d find at a typical pet store.

No visit is complete without your dog trying on a handmade baby alpaca sweater or a hand-loomed bow tie, and having their photo added to the polaroid wall of fame.

5. Impasto Pizzeria

The Park Slope location of Impasto Pizzeria opened just over a year ago and brought with it some of the best Roman-style pizza in the neighborhood. The crust is thick, airy, and somehow still light. They also serve gelato in the warmer months!

Their outdoor dining area is small but charming, and if you catch it at the right moment, you can almost convince yourself you’re not in Brooklyn anymore… or at least pretend you’re eating in Rome for a little while.

5. Lincoln Station Park Slope

A newer (and very welcome) addition to the neighborhood, Lincoln Station has quickly become one of my go-to spots. There’s a to-go window right on 1st Street, plus first-come, first-served outdoor seating that’s perfect when you’ve got your dog with you.

Everything is made in-house, from baked goods to sandwiches (I highly recommend the broccoli and ricotta sandwich), salads, soups, and even rotisserie chicken. They also have coffee, beer, wine, and kombucha on tap.

7. Mr. Boddington’s Studio

153 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

Tuesday-Saturday: 10AM-6PM, Sunday: 10AM-5PM, Monday: Closed

Opened in 2025, Mr. Boddington’s might just be home to the most beautiful stationery in the neighborhood - cards, notebooks, pens, everything!

If you love writing (or just love a really good notebook and pen moment), this place is hard to leave empty-handed.

And yes, they love dogs, too.

8. Muan House Thai Restaurant and Bar

Muan House has one of the most colorful, inviting patios in the neighborhood, and it’s absolutely perfect for a date night with your dog.

The food is authentic, Bangkok-inspired Thai that genuinely made me want to order everything on the menu.

They opened in February 2026 and have already become my go-to recommendation whenever anyone asks where to eat in Park Slope.

9. Something Else on Fifth

Something Else Brooklyn is exactly what it sounds like - in the best way! A little bit of everything: clothing, accessories, toys, candles, books, snacks, and more.

It’s one of those places you pop into quickly and then somehow spend way longer than you planned.

They love having dogs stop by, which makes it an easy “why not” detour on a walk.

10. The Ripped Bodice

If you haven’t been to The Ripped Bodice yet, consider this your sign.

My dog actually pulls me there regularly - partly because the space used to be a pet store, but also because they truly love having dogs inside.

The team is incredibly knowledgeable and always has great recommendations, and the store itself is woman, queer, and sister-owned. It’s brought so much energy (and so many people) to Park Slope. I’ll never forget the line wrapped around the block on opening day.

11. Threes Brewing

Threes Brewing has one of the dreamiest backyards in Park Slope. Think greenery, fairy lights, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours once the weather warms up.

They opened in 2014 and have been a neighborhood favorite ever since (and yes, they’re award-winning, too). Between trivia nights, live music, a great beer list, a full bar, and genuinely excellent food, it’s one of those places that always feels like a good idea.

12. Wild East Brewing Co.

Wild East Brewing Co. is an award-winning craft brewery that opened in February 2020, and it’s completely dog-friendly inside, which already makes it a standout. The space is big, open, and perfect for settling in for a while.

They’ve hosted everything from rescue events to vet gatherings to baby showers, and even my dog’s birthday party, which tells you everything you need to know.

The beer list is extensive, they regularly host weekend food pop-ups, and you can also bring or order your own food. Plus, they’ve got non-beer and non-alcoholic options, which I always appreciate. **This is also my official petition for them to bring back the Turnstyle Pickle.**

They do have two resident cats, so just something to keep in mind if your dog has a high prey drive.

13. Winner

367 7th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11215

Monday-Wednesday: 7AM-7PM, Thursday-Sunday: 7AM-8PM

Winner opened in March 2020 and immediately became a Park Slope staple.

It does get busy (especially on weekends), so just be prepared to wait in line both to order and for a seat, but it’s SO worth it.

It’s takeout-only, with first-come, first-served outdoor seating, and an ever-changing menu for pastries, breads, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their pull-apart monkey bread might be my favorite baked good in all of Park Slope.

14. Small Door Veterinary

The winner and finalists were announced in Park Slope Pulse’s newsletter in February.

This guide is written for anyone who wants to explore Park Slope - whether you’ve lived here for years and want to rediscover it, just moved in, or are showing an out-of-towner around. It maps out some of the places I return to time and time again - spots that help me feel grounded in the neighborhood, especially at the start of a new year, or that I love sharing with someone new to the neighborhood.

It’s written in the spirit of a Lonely Planet-style walking guide. Imagine you’re stepping into Park Slope for the very first time and need an itinerary you can follow on foot - taking in the sights, sounds, and tastes as you go. This is just one route of many, and I’d be happy to write more (a perfect date in Park Slope, South Slope, etc) if you’d like.

This particular walk focuses on central and North Park Slope, with stops I often take out-of-town visitors: included is a list of my top coffee shops, restaurants, local businesses, and attractions that I love taking visitors.

A handy Google Map is included at the end of this guide.

Start in North Slope

Begin in the northern part of the neighborhood by getting off at 7th Ave, Bergen St or Grand Army Plaza station on Flatbush Ave.

Make your way over to The Montauk Club to admire the facade- built in the late 19th century in a Venetian Gothic style, it’s one of Park Slope’s most striking buildings. The interior is open only to members (or guests), though limited community events are held here. (Park Slope Pulse is a great place to find a weekly roundup of neighborhood events.)

If you have time to linger nearby, a few architectural detours off 7th Ave are worth it:

• Sterling Place & 7th Ave - near the site of the 1960 Park Slope plane crash, a moment that left a lasting imprint on the neighborhood.

• 176-178 St. Johns Place (between 6th & 7th Ave) with distinctive industrial details.

Coffee, Bagels & a Quiet Garden

At Lincoln Place & 7th Ave, Bagel Pub is a solid stop for bagels to fuel your walk.

From there, head to the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. Housed in a former mansion, it’s a lovely place to pause and admire from the outside. In warmer months, the garden is ideal for sitting with a book or enjoying food you’ve picked up nearby, often accompanied by music drifting out from within.

If you’re craving coffee, you’re spoiled for choice:

• Cafe Regular: a much-loved neighborhood coffee shop with an instantly recognizable facade that’s popular with photographers and Instagrammers. Grab a Colson Patisserie pastry early here if you can.

• HOM Cafe & Wine: known for Asian-inspired coffee, pastries and dim sum all day if you want something a little different.

• Velvette Black (on Union St): excellent cold brew and flat whites, plus a surprisingly peaceful hidden backyard.

Toward Prospect Park

Continue up Union Street toward Prospect Park and take in one of the most beautiful stretches of townhouses in Park Slope - one of my favorite blocks to wander slowly and appreciate the details.

Union Hall: This 5,000 square foot bar, restaurant, and performance space in Park Slope hosts music and comedy shows nightly. Arrive early—seats around the parlor-style fireplace fill up fast.

2. Bar Reve: This Belle Époque-inspired cocktail bar just opened last year is designed for lingering. Thanksgiving weekend- New Year’s Eve

Every year, this Brooklyn neighborhood goes all out with Christmas lights & decor: picture life-sized Santas, inflatable snowmen, and twinkling lights synced with Christmas carols. Book a tour or take the D Train to 79th St and walk 15 minutes to see the lights, which are concentrated mostly between 83rd to 86th St and 11th to 13th Avenues. FREE.

Madame Morbid Ghost Tours*

This dark history & true crime trolley tour of Brooklyn runs Wednesday-Sundays through November 9th. Hear stories based on local lore and legend, whilst exploring the historic neighborhoods of Park Slope, Williamsburg, Navy Yard, Cobble Hill, Brooklyn Bridge, Gowanus and Prospect Park. See the home where a séance went horribly wrong in 1864 and the location of a theater fire which caused 300 people to melt together. In the face of the political and environmental hellscape that is 2025, it’s easy to grow despondent. Global economic inequality persists at ever-more mind-boggling numbers. This year is set to be one of the hottest on record. More and more Americans go without food or shelter at night.

The sky, in other words, is falling, and the larger structures that ought to be keeping it afloat—such as the federal government—have abdicated all responsibility. We can wallow in our powerlessness, or we can turn towards the communities we’re a part of and the neighbors who surround us.

In Park Slope and its surrounding neighborhoods, several grassroots organizations are feeding the hungry, building green infrastructure, and providing services to low-income New Yorkers, and they depend on the support of volunteers. Volunteering not only improves people’s day-to-day living conditions, it’s also a reminder of what really matters in difficult times: taking care of one another. This guide to local volunteer opportunities will help you find new ways to engage in your community and connect with your neighbors.

1. CHiPS

   What is it: Founded in 1971, CHiPS is a soup kitchen, food pantry, and shelter for women with young children devoted to ameliorating food insecurity and homelessness in New York City. CHiPS serves over 600 people daily and is a beacon of hope for its community of thousands of friends and neighbors in need.

   What you do: CHiPS volunteers help with the entire food service process—from preparing hundreds of bagels and sandwiches, to chopping vegetables, to sorting and packaging food donations. Most importantly, CHiPS volunteers greet and serve food to the guests who visit. CHiPS volunteers must be 16 or older, and Park Slope Food Co-Op members can complete their work shift at CHiPS. CHiPS also welcomes groups of colleagues, clubs, or community service organizations seeking a team-building, service-oriented volunteer opportunity.

   Where: 200 4th Avenue between Sackett and Degraw Street

   When: CHiPS has open shifts from 8:15-4:30 PM on Monday-Saturday, serving both their kitchen and food pantry. These shifts last 2-3 hours. If those hours don’t work, there are still plenty of other ways to help out, including making and donating meals, organizing a food drive, or picking up food donations from neighborhood bakeries and cafes.

   How: Fill out the volunteer application and sign up to attend a volunteer orientation, held online every Friday at 2 PM. After completing the orientation, you can sign up for shifts via the volunteer portal.

2. Gowanus Canal Conservancy

   What is it: The Gowanus Canal Conservancy works to build an equitable, thriving, and resilient urban ecosystem in Gowanus through education, stewardship, and advocacy. They lead grassroots volunteer projects, educate students on environmental issues, and partner with elected officials and community members to advocate for, build, and maintain green infrastructure around the Gowanus Canal.

   What you do: Volunteers in the Lowlands Nursery, which houses and sells native urban-adapted plants to community members and businesses, pot and care for plants, while volunteers in the tree stewardship program remove litter and cultivate the soil of neighborhood tree beds. You can also volunteer for their rain garden program to maintain, plant, and weed gardens that mitigate sewer overflow and flooding. The conservancy welcomes companies looking to demonstrate their commitment to environmental stewardship for group volunteer shifts.

   Where: Their office is located at 248 3rd Street between 3rd and 4th Avenue. The Lowlands Nursery is located at 25 9th Street and Smith Street

   When: The Lowlands Nursery and tree stewardship program have shifts on select Saturdays from 10 AM- 1 PM, and the rain garden program has shifts on select Fridays from 10 AM-1 PM.

3. Prospect Park Alliance

   What is it: The Prospect Park Alliance was founded in 1987 to help restore the park after a long period of deterioration and decline. The Alliance partners with the City of New York to care for the park’s natural areas, maintain the park’s buildings and landscapes, and provide education and recreation opportunities to thousands of visitors each year.

   What you do: Volunteers mulch and care for trees, remove invasive species of plants, clean up litter, and restore paths and playgrounds. The Alliance welcomes adults and teens aged 14 and up, including those with required community service through school or the court system. They also host programs on select weekends for community groups, companies, and families.

   Where: 95 Prospect Park West between 4th and 5th Street

   When: Timing varies based on the volunteer opportunity. Most shifts are 2-3 hours, and volunteers can sign up as frequently as they like.

   How: Register to become a volunteer, then sign up for opportunities via the volunteer portal.

4. Housing Works Park Slope

   What is it: Founded in 1990, Housing Works fights for inclusive care and an end to homelessness for people living with HIV/AIDS. The profits from their businesses, the Housing Works Thrift Shops and Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, fund the essential services they have provided to over 30,000 low-income New Yorkers living with HIV/AIDS, including housing, mental and physical healthcare, meals, job training, and legal assistance.

   What you do: Thrift store and bookstore volunteers price and shelve items, run the register, maintain displays, and help customers. Packaging and distribution center volunteers sort donations, tag merchandise, and organize inventory. Volunteers must be 18 or older, and Housing Works welcomes volunteer groups from corporations, universities, or other community organizations.

   Where: 266 Fifth Avenue between Carroll Street and Garfield Place (other locations throughout the city can be found on housingworks.org)

   When: Volunteer shifts at the Park Slope location are available Monday-Friday from 12-7 PM and on weekends from 12-5 PM. They last 4 hours. Other shift times vary based on location.

5. Brooklyn Animal Action

   What is it: Brooklyn Animal Action is an all-volunteer organization committed to improving the lives of animals in distress. They facilitate trap-neuter-return programs, rehome adoptable animals, and provide education and resources to help community members help vulnerable animals.

   What you do: Brooklyn Animal Action is most in need of foster parents willing to open their hearts and homes to an animal in need. They are also seeking volunteers with a car to help transport cats to and from the veterinarian’s office, volunteers who can assist with administrative tasks or grantwriting, and volunteers who can help with adoption events.

   Where: Brooklyn Animal Action has no physical location.

   When: Volunteer times vary based on the opportunity. Fosters can house a cat for a minimum of two weeks or until the cat is adopted.

   How: Fill out a foster application form and email volunteer@brooklynanimalaction.org for other volunteer opportunities. Make sure to include your interests, skills, and availability, as well as a resume. All volunteers must undergo a background check and interview.

6. Brooklyn Public Library

   What is it: Established in 1896, the Brooklyn Public Library is among the borough’s most democratic institutions, serving patrons from every walk of life. With branch libraries in every neighborhood, Brooklyn Public Library offers after-school tutoring, cultural events, literary coaching, and workforce development programs.

   What you do: Volunteers support the library’s diverse teaching and mentorship programs. You can sign up to tutor grade school students on their homework, facilitate conversations in English for ESL learners, help library users improve their digital knowledge, and more.    Where: The Park Slope branch is located at 431 6th Avenue between 8th and 9th Street, but the location varies based on the volunteer opportunity.

7. Heights and Hills

   What is it: Heights & Hills offers essential services to support more than 5,000 older Brooklynites and their families. They offer social services for homebound adults, caregiver support for families and friends, and a neighborhood hub for active older adults to gather as a community.

8. What you do: Heights & Hills volunteers provide friendship and support to homebound older adults in 30 diverse Brooklyn communities. They visit, take walks, assist with grocery shopping and other errands, or help clients use their smartphones. Heights & Hills is currently seeking volunteers who can travel to the following neighborhoods: Bensonhurst, Bergen Beach, Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Crown Heights, Flatbush, East Flatbush, East New York, Marine Park, Midwood, Sheepshead Bay, and Seagate.

9. Where: Their Office is located at 81 Willoughby Street, Suite 302, between Lawrence Street and Bridge Street. Their community hub, the Park Slope Center for Successful Aging, is located at 463A 7th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue.

10. When: Timing varies based on the volunteer commitment. Heights & Hills asks volunteers to commit to weekly visits for a minimum of 6 months.
