With gorgeous tree-lined streets, 19th century brownstones, world-renowned cultural institutions, and a prime location adjacent to Prospect Park, Prospect Heights seems to have it all. Despite its growing popularity, the neighborhood has maintained a relaxed and unpretentious feel, and its diverse array of restaurants, bakeries, boutiques and bars truly offers something for everyone.

Whether you’re a newbie or a local hoping to re-discover the neighborhood, our curated one-day itinerary of Prospect Heights sights, shopping, eats, and drinks is for you. Of course, we couldn’t fit all of our favorites into one day— so stay for a weekend, if you can, and share your not-to-be-missed spots in the comment section below.

In the morning:

Wake up early— we have a lot to fit in! Start your day by stopping by the recently-opened Prospect Heights outpost of the popular Greenpoint-based Radio Bakery. While you wait in the (quickly moving) line, browse the menu and make your selection of savory & sweet items to sample. Our recommendation? Don’t sleep on the brown butter corn cake!

Next, pick up a latte at the highly Instagram-able Caffè de Martini or head to Bon Tree Cafe for a spiced Yemeni brew. If you aren’t at carb overload from this morning’s pastries, opt for a freshly-baked bagel or visit the latke bar at Jewish bagel shop and delicatessen Gertie.

In the afternoon:

Find a bench to enjoy your coffee & breakfast while people watching in Prospect Park. Admire the recently restored Soldiers’ and Sailors’ Memorial Arch at Grand Army Plaza and the stunning facade of the Brooklyn Public Library’s central branch, which draws more than 1.3 million visitors per year. If it’s a Saturday, take a stroll around the year-round Grand Army Plaza Greenmarket and check out the local vendors.

The rest of the day includes our favorite afternoon stops, dinner picks, and nightcaps we swear by.
