A Sweet Addition to the Slope: Miolin Bakery Opens Its Doors
Find out why their soft opening has the neighborhood buzzing.
Big Congrats to Miolin Bakery (@miolinbakery), which soft-opened on Wednesday, September 25th at 7th Ave and 14th St!
I’ve been following Miolin Bakery since its early days, when it launched during the pandemic. Founded by Windsor Terrace locals Claudio Miolin (a seasoned baker who worked at Legacy Records) and Pamela Chew (who has a background in marketing & PR in the jewelry industry), Miolin initially sold their goods out of an apartment window and quickly became known for its expertly crafted croissants and artisanal sourdough.
During my visit to their gorgeous store - once occupied by Cafe Steinhof and designed with the help of Brooklyn-Based @alexallenstudio - I had the pleasure of bumping into fellow baker Alex La Rosa, who also launched her business during the pandemic. She graciously introduced me to the lovely owners and made sure I didn’t miss out—warning me to order quickly before their pastries and bread vanished!
This was my first time tasting their baked goods, and I was not disappointed. I tried the sourdough bread, which had a beautiful crust and a delicate crumb, and the kouign amann, which was irresistibly flaky and perfectly caramelized.
The croissants are not to be missed of course - I got the chocolate croissant…which the kids enjoyed very much (none left for me sadly, so I’ll need to try them next time!).
They currently offer a limited selection as they gauge customer favorites, with more hours and products to come soon—so stop by often to see what new delights they have in store (danishes may already be available by the time you read this!).
Make sure to go to @miolinbakery for the latest hours and give them a follow too to stay up-to-date for their official opening!
