Part 3: School Zones and Drop Zones: Your Fall Guide to Back to School with Form & Function
Written by: Marci McAvoy, Marci McAvoy Home Organizing
The key to setting up a well organized space is to think about your lifestyle and your goals for ease of use in the space. It’s about sustainable systems for all! Empowering others to take responsibility (AHEM partners, kids, domestic assistance) based on their age and ability is so helpful + teaches good life skills.
No struggle-bus here. Having a dedicated homework zone that your child can call their own with little distraction will help them focus and work more efficiently - win, win.
Homework zone:
When creating a homework zone it’s important to include your kids in the process, giving them a sense of ownership and pride in their space. Secondly, KISS=Keep It Simple Sweetie. Don’t overthink it, here are a few of my favorite homework zone essentials:
Desk: + Chair: Simple and adjustable.
Supply cart: Versatile and perfect for all sorts of supplies.
Keepsake bin: Perfect for school keepsakes.
Final PSA here: Kids are capable, think about all the labeled bins and cubbies that they navigate at school - they can do that at home too!

Seeing gorgeous buildings like this = a constant reminder to always look up in Park Slope.
This building between 8th and 9th st on Prospect Park West was built in 1904 and features beautiful lion head bas reliefs (breathing fire! 🔥🔥🔥 or maybe kale?🥬) above the grand entrance.

The entrance is particularly striking when walking on the park side and looking at this building front on. Check it out for yourself!

Guess how much for this home!
