  • Drums and Flats will open Saturday, May 2nd at 6pm! Visit them at 56 5th Avenue between Bergen St & St. Marks Ave.

  • Badshah will open this spring at 212 Flatbush Ave, featuring classic Indian favorites, shareable small bites, and fun cocktails (thanks to North Flatbush Ave BID for the heads up)!

Closing:

Larry’s Cà Phê will be closing their Park Slope location, which opened in August of last year, on May 3rd. Owner Tuan says his friend will be opening Yellow Pear Coffee (known for delicious corn butter mochi) in its place.

Argentinian Restaurant Estancia Piola in Gowanus has closed.

  • Park Slope Open Streets is back! The 2026 season kicks off this Saturday, May 2nd, 2-10pm. Keep an eye on their IG linked here for updates!

  • Friends from the Canal, a new public art installation by artist duo Mookntaka, is on view in Gowanus through August. Placed outside at three locations— Cafe Mars, Union Channel, and Wyckoff Gardens— the installation responds to the neighborhood’s state of flux and consist of three illuminated, character-driven sculptures.

  • New bus lanes are coming to Flatbush Avenue. Construction kicked off on Tuesday and will be in progress through the fall, so expect reroutes and bus stop changes from Livingston Street to Grand Army Plaza.

  • The Annual Fabulous 5th Ave Fair is accepting vendor applications. This 18 block street fair spans 18 bocks on 5th Avenue and features local vendors, live music & more. Vendors— scroll down to
    ”Fabulous 5th Ave Fair” (May 17) on the left hand side to view the application and reserve your spot!

  • The Mamdani Administration launches a $4.5 million job training initiative in partnership with the Gowanus Canal Conservancy. The program will train an 18 member team—including those with histories of incarceration, homelessness or substance abuse— for careers maintaining critical infrastructure that reduces flooding and protects local waterways, including maintaining 1,035 rain gardens in East New York, Brooklyn, and South Ozone Park, Queens.

  • New legislation may affect the way your bagel is made! A new bill passed by The New York Senate and Assembly is set to ban red dye 3, potassium bromate, and propylparaben due to potential harmful side effects. Watch local Bagel Connoisseur Sam Silverman explain how this decision may impact bagel shops, bakeries, and pizzerias.

  • FLEA Park Slope will host a Mother’s Day Pop-Up with Brooklyn-based artist and illustrator Maggie Beckett to introduce her new stationary line. Beckett specializes in bespoke murals, custom stationery, illustrations, and commissioned fine art pieces that aim to evoke joy and a sense of nostalgia.
