This guide honors the Black-owned businesses that make Park Slope - not just today, but every day.
Juneteenth is a reminder of the sacrifices made by Black Americans throughout history in the pursuit of freedom, and a time to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States.

“The pandemic changed the way people shop but we are confident that people see the value in the experience they get when they enter our brick-and-mortar. Testing the comfort of a chair, turning on a lamp, laying out pillow or table setting options, trying on jewelry and putting together a small gift bag filled with candles, notebooks and scents - are all part of what people enjoy in our space. We know the community will continue to support us as they have since we opened!”

"We chose 5th Avenue for its vibrant energy and diverse community. This location allows us to serve a wide range of customers, from students to professionals, and everyone in between. 5th Avenue is a bustling area that represents the heart of Brooklyn's cultural and economic activities, as I’m sure you can remember the event that just past. making it the perfect spot for our café. We wanted to be in a place that reflects our values of diversity, community, and vitality, and 5th Avenue embodies all of these qualities."

Imani House 🏘️
“Located at 76A 5 th Avenue, many people do not know that Imani House, Inc. (IHI) was started in Liberia, West Africa in the midst of brutal civil war. For 37 years now, Imani House has worked proactively in grassroots communities on two continents. Today the Brooklyn nonprofit provides free afterschool and summer programs, adult literacy/education programs, and important information and referral services. In Liberia, Imani House maintains a full time maternal and child health clinic, adult literacy and other educational programs.
Though Imani House won the eviction battle in 2016, the fear of displacement is always real and relevant; of being priced out, and being forced to end services to residents of local public housing, the elderly, and immigrants. Imani House is one of [if not] the last Black-owned organization(s) that serves these populations.”

“This company has been my dream since I was 15 years old, hosting small fashion shows in West Africa. At one point, I managed up to 10 shows simultaneously. Now, I focus on just one, but the mission remains the same: helping people find clothing that truly expresses their personality.”
Stella’s 🍴
“We are small mom and pop restaurant. We are family oriented and family run. We choose Park Slope because it’s also family oriented and very adventurous when it comes to food. That being said Caribbean food felt like perfect match. We also use the best ingredients possible to create our home style dishes. We really want people when they come to Stella’s to feel like they are around their grandma’s table.”
