Park Slope Starbucks employees unionize. On Friday, employees at the 166 7th Ave location voted to unionize with Starbucks Workers United, following the Hoyt Schermerhorn location in May [Patch].

Total Body Fitness @ Park Slope Brooklyn Public Library, 10:30- 11:30am: This weekly series by Shape Up NYC is a fun, low-impact, full-body workout that includes cardio, strength and balance exercises to improve your overall fitness. FREE.
Happy Hour Book Signing with Travis Brady @ Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store, 5-7pm: In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, join Annie’s Blue Ribbon General Store for a special happy hour event where author Travis Brady will be signing copies of her book, “Make Room For Healing” in advance of its official release date October 15th. Brady survived stage-3 breast cancer and wrote an accessible, heartfelt and witty collection of simple tips that helps others navigate all stages from diagnosis to recovery. Friday, October 11th & Saturday, October 12th
After Hours @ Green-Wood Cemetery, 6pm & 6:30pm*: Long after Green-Wood’s gates close to the public, explore its historic grounds under the cover of night. You’ll weave through the Cemetery’s stunning landscape and visit the graves of fascinating figures in New York and American history. This not-to-be-missed walking tour ends with a visit to the Catacombs, which are normally closed to the public. $30/$25 for members.
Saturday, October 12th
Kings County Fiber Festival @ Old Stone House, 10am-5pm: This annual event is a community-based fiber & handmade festival in the heart of Brooklyn! Shop from 40+ artisans— there is something for everyone from upcycled vintage quilts, macrame, felted planters, woven table settings to crochet fashions and ceramic fiber influenced mugs. FREE- registration encouraged.
Greg’s Halloween Paw-Rade, 1-4pm @ Greenwood Park: Dress up your pup for a chance to win prizes (Best in Show, Funniest Costume, Most Creative Homemade) or just come out see the show and enjoy Greg’s Pumpkin Patch, which offers a variety of premium, farm grade pumpkins ranging from little munchkins to large Howden pumpkins, as well as decorative corn, gourds and fall mums. Registration required for the costume contest. FREE.
Sunday, October 13th
Drink & Draft Night @ The Center for Fiction, 7pm: Stuck in your writing? Head to Fort Greene for Drink & Draft and create space for you to get out of your head and onto the page. Hosted by Josh Krigman, the night includes a series of visual prompts that lead you toward new creative choices in your work, and the chance to experiment with different styles of writing. Admission includes a cocktail or cocktail from the bar. All genres welcome, no experience necessary. $25.
Doll Parts Presents: 1974, A Dolly Parton Experience @ Littlefield, 8pm: Brooklyn’s Premiere Dolly Parton Cover Band, Doll Parts, is celebrating fifty years since 1974, one of Dolly’s most prolific years that gave us ‘Jolene,’ the legendary ‘I Will Always Love You,’ and many others.
