  • It’s NYC Restaurant Week! Now through February 12th, dine at your favorite neighborhood restaurants with 2-course lunches and 3-course dinners for $30, $45 and $60!   • Two eight-month old swans who were injured in a dog attack have now returned home to Prospect Park after spending time at the Wild Bird Fund. In other swan news, an injured swan found on 15th & 6th is currently being cared for (Thanks Reddit). Remember to call The Wild Bird Fund if you see an injured, sick, or orphaned bird in the neighborhood.

Closings/ Openings:

  • Alchemy announced that they are closing after 19 years in the neighborhood. Their final day of business will be January 24th. Stop by and wish them well— they will be missed! In its place, wingery & bar Drums & Flats— one of the partners runs Uncle Barry’s at 59 5th Ave next door— will open this spring.

Garden Planning Workshop @ Old Stone House, 2:30-4:30pm: Learn about how to optimize your garden spaces all year long with Old Stone House’s Garden Coordinator. As the days grow longer, join Angel Martinez Lombardo to plan your Spring garden. Regardless of space, work backwards from the vision you have for your space, to what and when to plant and how you’ll care for your garden. Participants will get some fun hacks for growing indoors or in small spaces, ideas forbuilding raised beds, and taking advantage of vertical space. In addition, participants will gain a basic understanding of the difference between perennials and annuals, when to prune, and some core gardening basics. $28.52.

Old Time Square Dance @ Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 6:30 – 8:30PM: BKCM’s community jam series continues with something new this January: their first-ever Old Time Square Dance, led by caller Sargent Seedoo. Open to all ages and levels of experience with square dancing, this community hang is the perfect place to show off your moves or learn your first steps. $15 General Admission, $10 for Students.

Yoga Club - Vinyasa Refresh + Jazz Social @ Shape Shifter, 6:30-8pm: This pop-up yoga club brings people together through movement and conversation, gathering around the city to connect, unwind, and build community. No dress code, no experience needed, just good people. Doors open at 6:30 PM. The meeting begins once the room fills, usually about 15–20 minutes after. The yoga practice runs for about one hour. Linger: A Book Signing with Hetty Lui McKinnon @ Electic Beets (January 31st, 11am: Electric Beets is thrilled to host a meet & greet and book signing with bestselling cookbook author Hetty Lui McKinnon—a celebration of vegetables, creativity, and community. McKinnon is an internationally acclaimed food writer known for her bold, comforting, and deeply flavorful vegetable-forward cooking.
