Slope Cheesesteak & Shakes has opened at 445 7th Avenue between 15th & 16th Streets. Check out their wide variety of cheesesteaks, loaded fries, milkshakes, and more.

Closings:

Pure Bistro announced they have closed after 14 years of service. The notice below was first shared on Park Slope Together on Feb 28. They will be so missed!

Red Hook neighborhood restaurant Pitt’s has sadly closed following its winter hiatus. The restaurant, known for its delicious pancake soufflés, shut its doors permanently on March 4. Chef-owner Jeremy Salamon said “we had a very slow fall, and Pitts’s simply couldn’t withstand the notoriously quiet winters” and needing to focus his time and energy on Agi’s Counter, his popular Crown Heights restaurant.

Local News:

The Brooklyn Public Library announced it will no longer offer passport services due to an order from the State Department, which has determined that federal law does not permit non-government nonprofits to collect passport application fees. Since 2011, Brooklyn Public Library has processed nearly 300,000 passport applications.

Harlem Shake is celebrating Women's History Month with their new "The Southern Spin" milkshake, inspired by non-profit Figure Skating in Harlem's upcoming ice show, Harlem Homecoming: Skating to the Lessons of Beyonce! The 16-ounce milkshake will be available for $16, with $4 from every milkshake sold to be donated to Figure Skating in Harlem’s 2026 programming.

Holi Celebration @ Prospect Park Boathouse & Lincoln Road Playground, 2:30-4:30pm: Join the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, Prospect Park Alliance, and Mixed Masala to celebrate Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colors, in Prospect Park! This celebration of the start of spring involves playing with colored powders (gulal) and setting bonfires (Holika Dahan).
