Openings: Zero-Proof Cocktail Bar Mockingbird will open on January 10th at 213 7th Avenue (between 3rd and 4th Streets). Folk, a cocktail bar by Lore’s Chef Jay Kumar, will open this spring. Check out details on The Strong Buzz! Grain Mill & Bakery Brooklyn Granary & Mill will open at 300 Huntington Streetin Gowanus. Non-alcoholic spirits & wine store Buzz Free is now open at 679 5th Avenue (between 20th and 21st Streets).
NYC’s drought watch, which has been in effect since November 2nd, has been lifted [BK Reader].
As of January 1st, New York State’s minimum wage increased 50 cents per hour to $16.50 in NYC. Plus, privately-employed pregnant New Yorkers are now eligible for up to an additional 20 hours of paid leave for prenatal care [Brooklyn Daily Eagle].
A housing lottery for six affordable artist studios has opened in Gowanus. The studios are the first of over 100 apartments of its kind to come to the neighborhood [Brooklyn Paper].
