Local News:
Park Slope Food Coop General Manager Joe Szladek sent a message to members this week addressing remarks made at the April 28th General Meeting that he called antisemitic and anti-Arab. A formal investigation is underway through the Coop’s dispute resolution process.
Szladek also urged more members to attend monthly meetings, noting that low turnout can allow any organized group to have an outsized influence on outcomes. Meetings are the last Tuesday of each month at 7pm and can be attended virtually.
Wishing a very happy National BID day to Park Slope 5th Ave BID and North Flatbush BID, who are celebrating 40 years! Casa Azul will sadly be closing May 30: “This space has meant so much to us — to our team, our guests, and everyone who has shared meals, laughter, and memories here. We’re truly grateful for every visit, every toast, and every moment you’ve spent with us. While this chapter comes to a close, we would love to continue welcoming you at our sister restaurant, Alma (Columbia St Waterfront District).”

Thursday, May 7th:
Classic Car Tour Fundraiser @ Lenny’s Garage, 5:30-8pm: Help support the free community events that the Park Slope Civic Council brings to the neighborhood all year—and get a rare look at the unique classic cars owned by Trustee Lenny Shiller, who collects classic American cars and is opening up his garage for a VIP reception and private tour. This hidden treasure houses dozens of vintage cars, many used in local television and movie shoots. Tickets include wine, soft drinks, and snacks. $25 members/ $30 non-members.
