Prospect Park comes alive in the summer, largely in part to BRIC. A cornerstone of Brooklyn's artistic scene since 1979, BRIC hosts the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival at the Lena Horne Bandshell every year. This beloved summer tradition draws over 250,000 attendees and offers a diverse range of free and ticketed performances by global music icons, emerging artists, dance troupes, as well as film screenings and more. BRIC's mission has always been to foster creativity, provide a platform for diverse voices, and unite Brooklyn through art to build community and make change.
the groovement’s 2025 BRIC Picks
Grace Jones & Janelle Monáe (June 9th): A visually stunning co-headlining benefit performance from two iconic artists known for defying genre. Grace Jones brings avant-garde style and a fusion of new wave, disco, reggae, and funk, while Janelle Monáe delivers a dynamic blend of funk, soul, R&B, and pop with socially conscious themes. Benefit tix.
Juneteenth in the Park with Ghost-Note (June 19th): BRIC's 3rd annual celebration of Black freedom and creativity, headlined by the electrifying Dallas collective, Ghost-Note, known for their pure funk and boundless energy. The lineup also includes readings by Voices of a People’s History and a set by DJ Flash Gordon Parks. Free tix.
Still Woozy (July 12th): Sven Gamsky's project delivers a dreamy and psychedelic indie-pop experience, blending soul, folk, and alternative with a lo-fi aesthetic. This Loveseat tour stop is a benefit concert.
Men I Trust with strongboi (July 18th): The Montreal-based indie-pop band, Men I Trust, creates a smooth, atmospheric sound with dreamy guitars and soft vocals. Opening is strongboi, a collaborative project from Berlin known for dynamic live shows ranging from disco to mellow ballads. This is also a benefit concert, grab tix here.
Adrian Quesada (August 8th): The Grammy-winning guitarist and producer, known for his work with Black Pumas, Grupo Fantasma, and Brownout, brings his unique blend of Latin funk, soul, and psychedelic rock to the stage. Expect a high-energy performance showcasing his diverse influences and masterful musicianship. Free tix.
Nick Hakim (August 15th): The soulful and atmospheric singer-songwriter will captivate you with his unique blend of R&B, indie, and psychedelic sounds. His music is known for its ethereal quality, introspective lyrics, and smooth, melancholic vocals, creating an intimate and immersive experience at BRIC’s season closer. Free tix.
Tips to maximize your experience:
Arrive early for a good spot (doors typically open an hour before)
Bring a picnic blanket or lawn chairs if you plan to sit on the hill
Hydrate! Bring empty reusable bottles to fill at water stations
Fuel up with your own food/snacks or enjoy Smorgasburg on site
Respect the park and leave no trace
Protect your ears by bringing earplugs to maximize your ear longevity
