Another year, another summer that’ll be gone before you know it - and 2026 is shaping up to be a scorcher, with forecasters calling for one of NYC’s hottest summers in years. So I put together this guide to help you squeeze the most out of the season while staying sane in the heat.

Everything here comes from years of living and exploring this neighborhood, with a focus on outdoor spots and ways to beat the heat when it climbs.

Bookmark this go-to guide for the remaining months of Park Slope summer!

Here’s your Ultimate Summer Guide around Park Slope for this Summer:

Pistachio soft serve at Impasto - photo by @parkslopeliving
  • Cool down with Ice Cream: Albero Dei Gelati (fresh flavors created from natural ingredients), Van Leeuwan, Goodiez (soft serves and Italian ices with fun mix-ins), Heap’s Ice Cream, Emack & Bolio’s, SkyIce Thai Food & Ice Cream, Bklyn Cream, Carvel, Häagan-Dazs - or grab a frozen yogurt from local favorite Culture. Impasto also serves a smooth pistachio soft serve topped with a drizzle of EVOO and a sprinkle of salt (one of my favorites - and you can also order it as a double twist with vanilla).

  • One of the most refreshing drinks this summer is the Maple Syrup-sweetened Mint Iced Tea from Wood Homestead (just $3 at the time of writing - looking back, the price hasn’t changed for over 10 years it seems!) from the GrowNYC Grand Army Plaza Farmer Market. Another favorite is the seasonal strawberry slushie (price is likely higher now than pictured below).

  • Go to a local deli or grab-and-go cafes for your picnic-ing needs: Cheese Plate Brooklyn, Electric Beets (100% plant-based!), Eastern District, Pasta Louise (8th St location), luna la mer, Little Honey, Zoller’s, Dukan SYKO

  • Food market in Prospect Park: No Summer is complete without a trip to Smorgasburg In Prospect Park, an eclectic food festival offering a fun range of food options and cuisines including some from local businesses like Noodle Lane which has been a vendor at Smorgasburg for 15 years! Try new local vendor Pretty Horse for their made-to-order kale & chicken caesar wrap with fizzy lemonade - they’ve also been popping up outside the Old Stone House on 5th Ave some weekends.

    Sundays through October 25, 11AM–6PM

  • Enjoy a beautiful patio in the neighborhood - check out our List of Top 23 Patios around the neighborhood!

  • Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks @ East River: The 2026 Macy's 4th of July Fireworks show will illuminate the Brooklyn Bridge, the lower East River, and the lower Hudson River to celebrate America's 250th birthday and the 50th anniversary of the fireworks. The 25 minute long display will start around 9:25 pm. Macy's is releasing 100,000 free tickets for premium access zones within Brooklyn Bridge Park. Keep an eye on the official Macy's Fireworks Hub for the July 1st ticket drop.
