Pilates for Real Life
Sponsored by Violet on 5th
Violet on 5th is a boutique Pilates studio in the heart of Park Slope, offering group Reformer classes, private sessions, prenatal and postnatal Pilates, and continuing education.
When we opened Violet on 5th we had a simple goal: to create the kind of Pilates studio we’d want to practice in ourselves (and one where everyone feels welcome).
Our foundation is Classical Pilates because we believe Joseph Pilates got something fundamentally right: thoughtful, consistent movement helps people feel stronger, move better, and enjoy healthier, more active lives. More than 100 years later, the method has stood the test of time.
Whatever the goal: building general strength, recovering from an injury, supporting healthy posture and mobility, healing from/or preparing for childbirth, improving balance skills training for a marathon, or simply carving out an hour to feel like yourself: we’ve got your back.
There isn't one reason to practice Pilates, and that's exactly what makes it so remarkable.
We’re passionate about Pilates.
We teach Modern Pilates with Classical roots. Our instructors are deeply rooted in the Classical method, but they also know that every body, and every goal is different. We believe the best teaching starts with listening. We want to help you cultivate a practice that will enrich your day-to-day life and help you build the skills to move well in the studio (and the world).
We've also been incredibly fortunate to become part of the Park Slope neighborhood.
We are so grateful for the support we’ve received over the last year. It’s been a joy to commune with you at the studio, in the park, in bookstores, and enjoy coffee and baked goods in the storefront. Thanks for sharing your practice with us.
As our studio has grown, so have the ways we can support our community. This June we offered our several workshops and also our first teacher training course. This fall, we're proud to offer our 20-hour, in-person Prenatal Pilates Teacher Training. This training is created for movement professionals who want thoughtful, practical, hands-on education (and anyone interested in learning more about prenatal and postnatal health). We chose to teach it in-person because some things are simply better learned together. Reach out to Kate at 5th@violethourpilates.com for more information.
If you've been walking past our windows on 5th Avenue wondering whether to give Pilates a try, consider this your invitation. We offer memberships, packages, and community classes. Whether you're brand new to Pilates or you've been practicing for years, we hope you’ll join us. You’ll leave stronger, move with more ease, and feel more like yourself.
We’d love to welcome you,
Kate + Kathryn
