Top Real Estate News

Here’s a quick roundup on real estate news happening around this part of Brooklyn:

  • “The City Council approved a bill on Wednesday to shift the cost of broker fees to landlords in most cases.” [New York Times]

    Other news sources: [Curbed][Hell Gate]

  • After years of debate, a revised proposal for the rezoning of 962–972 Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights was announced on Tuesday. The project, which is expected to be approved by the City Council on November 21st, will allow the development to move forward with changes that protect The Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s plants from being affected by shadows that would cause permanent damage [BBG].

  • Want to live on a street named after a famous New Yorker? “The Department of Records and Information Services (DORIS) unveiled a map last week displaying the 2,496 streets and intersections named after famous New Yorkers. On it you’ll find the locations of street signs identifying famed locals such as poet Audre Lorde or the hip hop group Run D.M.C.”. Click here for a link to the map! [Brick Underground]

I clicked through on some of the points of interest, and there are definitely some street names missing: “DORIS will add more names to the map as it works its way through the streets and intersections co-named before 2001, when the City Council co-named streets individually rather than in groups, Toole said. If a New Yorker notices an error in one of the biographies, they should report it to their council member, Toole added.”

This Week’s Must-See Property Rentals

Whether you’re planning your open house weekend, or just want to keep a pulse on (or take a peek at) what the real estate market looks like, here are our real estate listings for this week focusing on property rentals of 1-3 bedrooms.

Just listed: 3 great 2-bedroom rentals ranging between $3,500-$3,795; marked as “JUST LISTED” below.

I use StreetEasy as the listing source to recommend properties that I would live in myself, and have searched within the boundaries of Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods (Gowanus, Windsor Terrace, Prospect Heights). All prices are per month, and only listings in the last 7 days are shown - except where there are price drops. All sales jargon has been magically removed ✨
