Top Real Estate News

Here’s a quick roundup on real estate news happening around this part of Brooklyn:

  • “Airbnb may soon be making a comeback in New York City, at least for one- and two-family homes. The New York City Council is considering a new measure to allow some landlords to list their properties on Airbnb and other platforms aimed at tourists and temporary visitors. The move comes after a city crackdown eliminated thousands of illegal short-term rentals last year.” [Gothamist]

  • “A surge of food and drink businesses, led by Mexican, Japanese and Caribbean kitchens, most of them outside Manhattan, have played an outsize role in the city’s storefront revival, according to a study released Friday by the Department of City Planning”. From early 2020 to this summer, Park Slope had the 2nd largest net gain of new restaurants out of any neighborhood (behind Greenpoint, Brooklyn with 57). Andrés Tonatiuh Galindo Maria, one of the founders of Nenes Taqueria (great birria tacos) - located in Bushwick & Park Slope - is featured in this article. [New York Times]

  • Fun Fact: Emily Blunt and John Krasinski once invested in Park Slope real estate! Their Brooklyn portfolio included a $6.56 million townhouse in Park Slope and an $11 million condo at The Standish (popular with celebs including Matt Damon) in Brooklyn Heights. [TheRichest]

This Week’s Must-See Property Sales

Here are our real estate listings for this week focusing on property sales of 1-3 bedrooms plus one 5 bedroom multi-family. 7 of the 10 listings are across from Prospect Park or just a block away, and 4 are under $1M (1-2 beds)!

I use StreetEasy as the listing source to recommend properties that I would live in myself, and have searched within the boundaries of Park Slope and surrounding neighborhoods (Gowanus, Windsor Terrace, Prospect Heights). All prices are per month, and only listings in the last 14 days are shown unless there is a significant price drop. All sales jargon has been magically removed.
