New York City Solar Incentives: How much can your home save?
We understand that solar project costs can be daunting. Luckily, homes like yours are saving between 75%- 95% on solar installation costs because of New York City’s rich incentives! Here are a few incentives that will help significantly reduce your project costs:
New York State Solar Income Tax Credit: When a New York resident installs a solar PV system on their primary residence, they are eligible for a $5000 state tax credit. This credit allows homeowners to reduce their taxable income when filing their NYS taxes.
NYC Solar Property Tax Abatement (PTA): The PTA allows NYC homeowners to claim 30% of solar energy system costs as a property tax abatement with the NYC Department of Finance. When you go solar, your property taxes are significantly reduced over a 4 year term.
NYSERDA Solar Rebate: NYSERDA contributes a cash rebate to solar installations through the NY-Sun program. The rebate amount varies depending on geographic location. For residential projects in NYC, it’s currently $0.20 per Watt.
These are on top of additional credits from the state and federal government!
Solar savings like this don’t last forever and are at risk for reduction in the future. September is your last chance to reserve a 2024 installation and receive your tax benefits next tax season!
