This summer, vinyl fans mourned the loss of 5th Avenue Record Store, a beloved music shop that served the neighborhood for nearly six decades.
In honor of National Vinyl Record Day (Aug 12th) and in the spirit of supporting local music businesses, we’ve curated this list of 10 local record stores and listening bars across Park Slope, Prospect Heights, Windsor Terrace, Gowanus, and Prospect Lefferts Gardens.

Psychic Records
This neighborhood staple, formerly known as Music Matters, was in business for 22 years before regular customer Chris Lentz took over in 2021. Now called Psychic Records, the shop sells an extensive, well-curated selection of records, cds, and cassettes and is well-loved by locals.

Sterling Records
Owned by longtime Park Slope resident Gary Giddens and backed by musician Vince Clarke, co-founder of Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Erasure, Sterling Records sells a wide variety of of new and used vinyl, 45s, and CDs, as well as t-shirts, tote bags, and books.

Honeycomb Hi-Fi Lounge
Modeled after traditional Tokyo jazz lounges, this cozy listening bar is an ideal date spot for music fans. The curated playlist of Vinyl records is from the owner’s personal collection, and its location just a few blocks from Barclay’s Center makes it the perfect pre or post concert pick.
