Openings: 🎉
Hidden Rivers Beer Garden— a craft beer, wine and cocktail bar featuring 12 rotating taps—opened Tuesday in Gowanus at 291 Nevins Street between Sackett and Union Streets.
Mash Inn Beer Counter will soon open at 1215 8th Ave at the corner of 8th Ave and 13th St . The spot comes from the team behind Gold Star Beer Counter in Prospect Heights, owned and operated by the husband-and-wife duo Joshua and Maria Van Horn - widely adored for its laid-back vibe, thoughtful beer selection, and neighborhood-favorite status.
Mexican restaurant Apapachó, from one of the former owners of Alma Negra & a former Fonda employee, will open at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley Place and Union Street. The restaurant shared with us that opening is slated for Mid-June—stay tuned here for updates!
Sushi Counter opened on June 6th at 452 Dean Street on the corner of Flatbush & Dean Street. Known for bringing Australian-style budget-friendly sushi hand rolls— priced at $5 for a roll or 3 for $12— to Manhattan and Brooklyn. Oren’s, a new sandwich shop, will open in the fall at 122 7th Avenue between President & Carroll Streets in the space previously occupied by La Bagel Delight. Owner Oren Lund gave Park Slope Pulse some insight on what to expect from the new shop:
“The space will be familiar and welcoming—nothing precious or fancy. The menu will be small, and responsive to the community. We’ll be serving only the healthiest, sustainable and delicious foods that we feed our own family. Sandwiches will feature beautifully cooked food on our own bread. Salads will be vibrant and varied. Everything will be made from scratch. Initially, the focus will be on lunch service, with breakfast service added later.”

Autumn’s Attic, a trans-owned Antique-Vintage-Retro shop, opened this week at 152 9th Street between 2nd and 3rd Aves.
Veterinary Eye Center of NYC opened their third NYC location in Park Slope at 451 5th Avenue between 9th and 10th street. They specialize in veterinary ophthalmology for furry friends, making eye care more accessible for pets throughout Brooklyn.

Brooklyn state Senator Jabari Brisport, who represents parts of Prospect Heights, Fort Greene, Downtown Brooklyn, Bed-Stuy, told haters to “give up” as an annual resolution recognizing June as LGBTQIA+ Pride Month in New York State was passed. Brisport is the first openly-gay person of color to serve in the state Senate, and one of two openly-queer state Senators currently in office.
