Park Slope Pulse just turned 2! 🎉 We are so thankful to this community for all of your support.

Local News: 🗞️

  • Agi’s Counter on Franklin Avenue will sadly be closing - owner Jeremy Salamon thanked the community and shared: “Our last dinner service will be June 14. Our last lunch service will be July 5. Between now and then, we’ll cook some old favorites. The tuna melts, the cheesecake, the deviled eggs, the borscht. All the things that somehow became bigger than the little room they came from.” Jeremy emphasized that he is seeking out a new home for Agi’s and that this is “see you later”, not “goodbye.”

  • The free shuttle service that was launched by skincare brand The Ordinary has been halted service due to permit issues. The service was intended to fill a gap not covered by the NYC transit system, operating between Domino Park in Williamsburg and Prospect Park.

  • After years of debate, plans for the $11 million Brooklyn Skate Garden at Mount Prospect Park was approved by the Brooklyn Community Board 8, moving forward plans for a new skate-focused recreation space between Grand Army Plaza and the Brooklyn Museum.

  • NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani toured Gowanus last week and made a press announcement at Powerhouse Arts, pledging 200,000 new affordable, rent-stabilized homes backed by a $22 billion capital investment in housing over five years.

  • Olympic sailor Nicole van der Velden as well as other athletes from across the globe recently navigated through the Gowanus Canal as part of an environmental cleanup event.

We're now open 7 days a week for coffee featuring roasts from Bushwick micro-roaster Obscure and our house-made seasonal syrups. Our weekday service now serves the classics, weekend brunch, and hearty supper offerings with plenty of vegan, vegetarian & gluten-free options.”

  • Buzzy Italian spot Fausto is now serving brunch on Sunday mornings!

  • The Ripped Bodice is holding their 10th Annual Bingo from June 1st- August 31st. Have fun, read books, and win prizes! Download a card or visit in-store to pick one up.

Sign us up! 🍩 Story Time Chess is celebrating National Donut Day on Friday, June 5th from 10 AM–3 PM by giving away free donuts plus free first chess lesson tickets for children new to Story Time Chess. They are also launching their Park Slope Scholarship Fund to support reduced-cost lessons for local families.
