Park Slope residents are rallying after the sudden closure of Steve’s 9th Street Market on September 30, a longtime neighborhood staple. At a community meeting, officials addressed concerns about potential luxury redevelopment and emphasized the need for a replacement grocery, while rumors of high-rise condos were dispelled. The future of the former Steve’s 9th Street Market remains uncertain: the site is commercially zoned, so the City Council can’t dictate its use, and with no formal plans announced, the property owner retains full decision-making control.
