Small rituals for a brighter New Year
Happy New Year!
Instead of resolutions, I’ve been thinking about the small rituals that make living here feel a little brighter at the start of a new year - the tiny resets that help us ease back into real life after the holidays.
A few local moments I love at the start of a new year - feel free to share yours:
Starting the year with a slow walk through the neighborhood - looking around and noticing what’s changed, what hasn’t
Finally visiting the store you’ve walked past a hundred times
Clearing out a closet or bookshelf and donating locally
Choosing one small business to deliberately support this week
Saying hello to the same people you pass every day - and maybe learning a name or two
None of these take a lot of time or feel impressive - but they’re grounding in a city that moves fast. And they remind me why I started Park Slope Living and Park Slope Pulse in the first place - because it’s the neighborhood and the community within it that really does matter.
Wishing you a gentle, hopeful start to the year. And as always, I’m glad you’re here.
With much thanks
Vivien
