Vato, an all-day tortillería, bakery, and restaurant by the Michelin-starred Corima team, opens today, November 20th! Get a first look here.
K-Slope market, in the space formerly occupied by Steve’s C-town, soft opens at 7a, this Sunday, November 23rd. They are full service neighborhood market offering natural and organic produce, a full-service butcher shop, artisan deli, international fish counter, fresh-baked breads, sushi, flowers, international foods and more. Swing by their soft opening on Sunday for complimentary gift bags stuffed with treats for the first 100 customers, a raffle sweepstakes, free samples, and exclusive holiday deals!
Andamiro, a new Korean restaurant has opened this week! They are located at the former Naruto Ramen spot at 276 5th Ave, Brooklyn. Check out their website for the full menu and opening hours.
Lidl will be opening 680 Baltic Street on December 10 (corner of 5th Ave & Baltic street). It will be open from 8am-9pm.
Closing:

Neighborhood News:
Prospect Park Alliance announced that they are a grantee of New York State Department of Environmental Conservation’s Community Reforestation (CoRe) grant program! Through the program, $7 million in funding has been awarded to local organizations to enhance the resiliency of NYC’s urban forests as part of the State’s “25 Million Trees by 2033” initiative. Over a dozen parks and natural areas across the city, including Prospect Park, will benefit with over 21,000 total trees to be planted!
Brooklyn rent prices soar to a near-record high, with the average rent in Brooklyn reaching $4,340 a month— a leap of 8.5% year over year. The median rent climbed to $3,850, a 6.9% increase over the same period last year. These increases are more than double the inflation rate of 3% in September [Brooklyn Paper].
On Monday, Brooklyn Children’s Museum launched Haven: Reunification, a new bimonthly initiative that invites fathers incarcerated at Rikers Island to spend an afternoon reconnecting with their families in a private, supportive space [BK Reader].
Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Roebling Rink re-opens for its second season on November Nov. 24. The seasonal pop-up rink offers daily skating through Feb. 1 with unbeatable skyline views and family-friendly pricing.
It’s Native American Heritage Month! Check out this month’s Park Slope’s Hidden History: The Survivance of the Lenape by Morgan Demerits to learn about the history of the Lenape, the true Native New Yorkers.

Markets for Makers Holiday Market @ Industry City: November 22nd & 23rd, 11am-5pm: These Brooklyn markets are known for bringing together independent artists + makers specializing in home decor, fashion, art, design, food (and more!) in a fun + inspiring environment that champions community. Holiday Greetings & Gay Happy Meetings @ Ginger’s Bar, 7:30pm: Join Ginger’s for their monthly residency of Queer To Tell: a Storytelling Series! Hosted by local drag artist Andie Sleaze, the show feature’s 6 LGBTQIA+ storytellers telling different tales in accordance with the evening’s theme. This month’s show is for stories that take place around the late fall/winter holidays. The Hard Nut @ Brooklyn Academy of Music (December 12th-22nd): Mark Morris Dance Group presents this modern lyrical reimagining of Tchaikovsky’s beloved classic The Nutcracker. This lavish, gender-bent love letter to a canonical ballet transplants the story from the strait-laced 1890s to the swinging 70s, with raucous parties, dancing G.I. Joes, and whimsical costumes. Tchaikovsky’s complete score is performed live by the MMDG Music Ensemble. Tickets start at $45 (buy four tickets for the price of two at select performances!).
The Brooklyn Nutcracker by the Brooklyn Ballet (December 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th): This rendition of the classic holiday tale transforms familiar Nutcracker characters and scenes to represent the heart of Brooklyn’s cultural mosaic. From a mysterious pop and locking Herr Drosselmeyer and a daring hip hop battle scene, to a bohemian Mother Ginger, the characters embark on an enchanting journey from Victorian Flatbush to modern day—with exciting detours through notable Brooklyn landmarks, including a visit to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and a Flatbush Avenue subway platform.
