A Chat with Tamar, Lileo’s Owner, on Bringing Georgian Food, Wine, and Hospitality to Park Slope

Right to left— Lileo Owner, Tamar, daughter Lile, and sister/Lileo Manager Ani

Lileo coffee & wine bar is opening today, July 2nd, at 5pm. We chatted with Lileo’s owner, Tamar, who filled us in on what to expect and why Park Slope is the perfect neighborhood for the new business.

The restaurant, inspired by Georgian hospitality, will serve specialty coffee, carefully selected Georgian wines, authentic Georgian cuisine, and fresh pastries. It is designed to be a welcoming spot where Park Slopers feel comfortable meeting friends, working, celebrating, or simply taking a quiet break.

From the very beginning, Park Slope felt like the right home for Lileo. We love the neighborhood’s strong sense of community, its walkable streets, and the way people genuinely support local businesses. It’s a place where people slow down, connect, and appreciate quality.- Tamar, owner of Lileo

The name Lileo comes from an ancient Georgian folk chant dedicated to the sun. In Georgian culture, it symbolizes warmth, light, gratitude, and bringing people together. Tamar’s daughter is named Lile, so Lileo seemed fitting for a restaurant built around warmth, hospitality, and bringing people together.

Lileo’s menu features traditional Georgian dishes (Khinkali, Khachapuri- Georgian cheeseboat), starters, dessert and wine pairing boards.

Welcome to the neighborhood, Tamar & team! Visit Lileo at 86 5th Avenue between Warren Street and St. Marks Place.

Community Poll 💭

Last week, we asked for recommendations for hair salons in the neighborhood! Several of you recommended Salon 718 on Vanderbilt. Lynn L says:

This is the best salon I've ever experienced, and I've been to many! They are all very talented and they take very good care of you, treating you like a friend and not just another client. And the prices are very reasonable too.

This week, we want to know:

Do you have a recommendation for a reliable Park Slope housekeeping service?

Leave a comment or reply to this email with your response!

Anyone headed to the beach this weekend? I’ll be there practicing my hot dog eating skills (I should have no problem meeting the 33 hot dog record)…🌭
