Vietnamese Coffee Shop Larry's Ca Phe will open in the former Naidre’s space at 384 7th Ave between 11th and 12th streets.
Gnocchi on 9th, an East-Village based shop known for its $10 gnocchi to-go, will open its first Brooklyn location in Park Slope on 169 7th Ave between Garfield and First St.

Chef Greg Baxtrom announced that seasonal restaurant Olmstead will be closing on August 17th, after nearly 10 years in the neighborhood.Tropical Cocktail Bar Sweet Talk has announced that they will close by the end of the month. They are hoping to relaunch a new location in Brooklyn— follow their Instagram for updates!
A 14 mile train line connecting Brooklyn & Queens is in the works! The Interborough Express (IBX) will connect Bay Ridge to Jackson Heights in under 40 minutes, and is expected to be completed by the early 2030s [Time Out].

Midsummer Nights @ Brooklyn Conservatory of Music, 6:30pm: For the fifth year running, the Midsummer Nights series is bringing four evenings of free music to BKCM’s front stoop! Curated by acclaimed jazz singer-songwriter, NPR Tiny Desk artist and former BKCM Jazz Leadership Fellow Melanie Charles, this year’s Midsummer Nights lineup is a who’s-who of diverse rising artists who are revitalizing jazz – and knocking down genre boundaries. This week features Amina Scott, an upright and electric bassist, educator, composer and arranger born and raised in Oakland, CA. FREE (RSVP recommended).
Full Moon Breathwork @ Prospect Park, 7:30pm*: Join this gathering in Prospect Park under the full moon to release what’s no longer needed and make space for what’s ready to shine through. Conscious Connected Breathwork is a gentle yet deep breathwork practice that uses conscious connected breathing to access expanded states of awareness. It’s a powerful tool for moving stuck energy, softening old patterns, and reconnecting with your inner wisdom while being held in a safe and supportive container. $25 suggested donation.

Emily Johnson / Catalyst (BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn) @ Prospect Park, 7pm (Doors at 6pm): For the first time ever at the Lena Horne Bandshell, the stage becomes the entire park! Emily Johnson, celebrated for a distinguished body of dance works, invites you to an evening specifically crafted for sunset time together in Prospect Park. Gather, sit, or lay down with the ground, on and amongst 84 hand-stitched quilts—a 4,000 square-foot installation designed by Ojibwe artist Maggie Thompson. You’ll be invited to take part—stitching with the group, dancing, and listening to stories and provocations transmitted from artists across territories and First Nations. FREE- RSVP requested.

This Paranormal Life @ The Bell House, 7:30pm (Doors at 7pm): This Paranormal Life is a multi award-winning comedy podcast! Every Tuesday, comedians Kit Grier Mulvenna & Rory Powers investigate a different paranormal case trying to find the truth inside the mystery. Started in London in 2017, TPL has since amassed a cult following with over 20 million downloads across the globe. $37.

Climate Sing – First Tracks @ Brooklyn Bridge Park, 11am & 4pm: Come and sing along, listen, and build community with Climate Sing– First Tracks as artists Eisa Davis and Sxip Shirey premiere two brand-new songs celebrating planet earth. Zoller's Grown Ups' Summer School: Chef’s Market Tour @ Prospect Park Farmer’s Market, 11am-2pm: Take advantage of Summer’s freshest produce by shopping the Grand Army Farmer’s Market with a chef! Zoller’s Fine Foods presents this fun event, where you will learn what to look for and how to spot the market’s best kept secrets. Afterwards, you’ll create recipes that use the produce and share a picnic in the park! $115.
Revolutionary Spirits @ Green-Wood Cemetery, 3:30-6pm: Delve into the storied past of distilled spirits in Brooklyn with Green-Wood and Fort Hamilton Distillery. The afternoon kicks off with a trolley tour of the Cemetery to discover influential figures of the Revolutionary War and distillers who made their mark on the young Republic. Afterward, the trolley heads to Fort Hamilton Distillery in Industry City where you’ll experience “white” rye straight off the still, sample whiskey directly from the barrel, and learn how to bottle your own spirits! You’ll get a tasting of four whiskeys, followed by a sampling of barrel-aged maple syrup. $51.99.
Sunday, August 10th:
Pie Tasting Festival @ Littlefield’s, 2-5pm: Come taste a bunch of different pies and vote on a winner. What a way to spend an afternoon! If you’d like to bring a pie, visit the event page and fill out the form by August 9th. $19.48.
Summer Jazz @ Brooklyn Museum, 2-4pm: Stop by the Museum’s lobby for performances by some of the city’s most acclaimed jazz musicians, whose creative styles incorporate blues, roots, and international sounds. In August, vocalist Ghanniyya Green performs a jazz set with her band. Known as a singer’s singer and a listener’s delight, Green has performed in jazz clubs throughout the city and across radio, television, film, and theater. Experience what the American Review of Jazz and Blues calls “a Diva’s sense of high drama.” FREE.
The Dance: Tap Dance, from Master Juba to Hip Hop @ Prospect Park 2-5pm: Join Prospect Park Alliance and Joseph Webb and friends for an interactive and engaging exploration of tap dance, affectionately called The Dance by tap dancers, and its historical relationship to New York City. Starting with African American Master Juba, considered the father of tap dance, this performance takes the audience on a journey from the early 1800s, through the swing jazz and bebop era to modern-day hip-hop. Attendees will receive a beginner level tap lesson at the start of the program, so they can participate in some of the historic dances to follow. FREE—RSVP recommended.

Street Photography @ Brooklyn Public Library (Central Branch), 6-7:30pm: In collaboration with Leo Jimenez of LEOWUZHERE Studios, BPL invites you to dive into an exciting journey of Street Photography. Outdoor Cinema: @ Parklife— Bloodsport, 8-10:15pm: This week’s Outdoor Cinema presents Van Damme’s martial arts classic Bloodsport (1988). U.S. soldier Frank Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) has goes to Hong Kong to be accepted into the Kumite, a highly secret and extremely violent martial-arts competition..
