Popular Sunset Park Dominican Street Food restaurant Antojitos BK will open a Park Slope location on Union and 4th Avenue this summer!
Greenpoint-based pizza shop Paulie Gee’s will open in Gowanus at 305 Nevins Street in the former Ample Hills Space. Thanks to The Strong Buzz for the heads up!
Vintage, home, & gift store Dibs Shop will open on 393 5th Avenue between 6th and 7th Streets this summer— date TBA!
The former Laurentino’s bakery has re-opened as Dolce Italian Bakery. It’s located on 680 5th Avenue between 20th and 21st St.
Beach bound? Ride a vintage train to Coney Island or Rockaway Beach this summer! Nostalgia Rides are on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, August 10th.
Free Summer Meals for kids 18 and under start on June 27th. You can find these meals at specific places like select NYC Public Schools, community pool centers, parks, and libraries.. You don't need to sign up, show any papers, or have an ID to get these meals— just head to one of the meal locations and enjoy a delicious breakfast and lunch.

A new global arts festival will take place from September-December in a former Gowanus power station. The festival, which features performing artists from South Africa, Greece, and Brazil, will sell 10,000 tickets for $30 each [The New York Times].

BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! A Tribute to Quincy Jones: The Greatest Night in Pop @ Prospect Park, 7pm (doors open at 6pm): This is the first of a two-part tribute to the late, great musician and producer Quincy Jones with a screening of The Greatest Night in Pop, a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of the historic anthem “We Are the World.” This documentary captures the creative spark and cultural impact of a historic moment and serves as a moving homage to Jones’ unparalleled influence on music and film. Come dressed in your best ‘80s looks, and enjoy a DJ set by Rontronik and a panel moderated by Hearing Things featuring director Bao Nguyen before the film. FREE.

Much Ado About Nothing by The Public Theater @ Prospect Park Peninsula (Saturday, June 28th & Sunday, June 29th, 6:30pm): The Public Theater’s Mobile Unit celebrates its 15th year with a tour across all five boroughs, including two nights of free theater in the heart of Prospect Park. Directed by Rebecca Martínez, this new take on the classic tale of love, deception, and misunderstandings blends Spanish, music, and Shakespeare’s timeless wit. Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks @ East River: Macy’s fireworks display returns to the East River this year! The 25 minute long display will start around 9:25 pm. If you’re planning to watch in person, be sure to check out information on public viewing access prior to going. Many areas in Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park will require a free viewing ticket, which will be issued via a lottery. Information here.
Coney Island Fireworks Display: Enjoy a day of beach & boardwalk fun followed by a fireworks show at 9:45pm! Information here.
